Proyecto Paralelo is pleased to announce its participation in ZonaMACO 2020 FORO section. Our booth project is a proposal to rethink, in the context of the art fair, the ways in which we relate with and consume art while questioning the role that each player has in the art production, exhibition and commodity system.
What are we doing here? What is the purpose of an art fair today? Is seeing the same as understanding? Is a world full of images and objects sustainable? How do we position ourselves in the face of this saturation? What kind of art experience do we want to share? How would a world without art look like? What kind of vacuum would that be?
We have selected works by Ignasi Aballí, Ana Bidart, José Pedro Croft, Cynthia Gutiérrez, Jonathan Hernández, Nico Munuera, Mario Navarro and Melanie Smith that relate with the concepts of invisibility, vacuity and absence At the same time these works establish each a dialogue with specific situations within the art context like the market, the exhibition device or inspiration as a condition for creation.
